KORN began writing its eighth studio album on October 2. The CD "MTV Unplugged: Korn", produced and directed by Alex Coletti, will hit stores on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. The exclusive acoustic set will have participation of other big-name artists, including members of the group THE CURE, LINKIN PARK vocalist Chester Bennington and Amy Lee, lead singer of EVANESCENCE. The show - which will be broadcast in America, Europe and Asia - is expected to air sometime in February 2007 via all MTV-related channels, including MTV.com. This will mark KORN's second-ever televised acoustic performance, following the band's appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in July. Plus The Cure sat in for a mashup and Amy Lee (from Evanescence) sang along on Freak on a Leash. For this project I added four celli, two basses, two cimbassos, two bass/ contrabass trombonists, a saw player, a glass harmonica player, choir bells, and a six person taiko ensemble to Korn. We videotaped at MTV's studios in Times Square two weeks ago and we are currently mixing that CD as well here at the Woodshed, yours truly at the producing helm again. "About a month or so ago my pal Jonathan (Davis) asked me to music direct/arrange Korn's appearance on MTV Unplugged.
